Maree St Clair

My first love is Needleturn Applique! I enjoy building my picture one piece at a time. I was taught to sew by my grandmother on her treadle machine. (Grandma Amy Fitt is in the picture). For many years I made my own clothes and those of my children, but patchwork and quilting became my focus in 1995. I love working with many styles of fabric but more recently have used reproductions. My professional career began in 2004 with the publication of my first design in Australian Patchwork and Quilting. I went on to design over 20 quilts and smaller items and these have been published in Australian Patchwork & Quilting, Patchwork and Stitching and Homespun, all Australian Magazines.

My quilt Amber appears on the cover of Quiltmania Issue 121 and the pattern is included in the magazine!

Whilst Needleturn is my love, I encourage my students by trying to teach them a method of applique they are comfortable with, there are many to choose from.

I also love to teach beginners and get a special thrill when I inspire a love of a new craft in them.

I operate a small business Longarm Quilting both Edge to Edge and Custom quilting for clients.
